29th November 2011.

Semester 1, Week 8.

I've been so excited for christmas but its suddenly dawned on me that I have about 38338 million assignments to do which is NOT cool. However, because I love you guys so much, here's what you missed!

BIRTHDAY SHOUTOUTS
Legend C.S Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia would have been celebrating a MASSIVE 113th birthday today!

- a legend hard at work.

Celebrating with you today is also footballer Ryan Giggs who's 38 and just to make things controversial - always like to be a little bit hehe, former Miss Wales and BB Star Imogen Thomas turns 29.

AROUND THE GLOBE

Today on the Globe we were joined by football fanatic but smart dressing hater Sam Hill from Gloucester!

N: So Sam how long have you lived in Gloucesterrrrrrrr? you have to say it like that otherwise it doesn't sound right...
S: Haha yes, you do, umm pretty much my whole life, so 19 years apart from when I came to live here in sunny Stoke for uni.
N: What is Gloucester most known for?
S: Probably Doctor Foster, y'know the nursery rhymes and then probably farms.
N: Farrrrrrrrrms yeah? haha. Oh yeah of course, forgot about that nursery rhyme, what about any food specialities?
S: Umm, thats a difficult one actually, we're known for our gloucester cheese and sausages actually.
N: And do you eat alot of them when you're home? no euphemism at all...haha.
S: Ha erm, yeah actually, no euphemism!
N: Who is the most famous person from Gloucester?
S: I hate to say it but its probably Fred West the serial killer.
N: Oh lovely! and have you got any interesting facts for us?
S: J.K Rowling is from Gloucester and they did some filming at the Gloucester cathedral for Philosophers Stone and Chamber of Secrets.
N: Oh wow, I never knew that! Well, its been great having you in the studio and learning a bit more about Gloucester other than farrrms and weatherrrr ha, Sam and I have banter like this in our lessons, i'm not being rude, promise :)

DID YOU KNOW? that Wall’s Ice Cream factory in Gloucester is the largest in Europe? It was built in 1959, but Wall's was originally a meat company, which began making ice cream to avoid laying off workers when demand for its sausages dropped in summer!

BIG WELL DONE to Abbi Malbon for winning a pair of tickets to Wild Wild West Gobble tomorrow! The answer was Heigh Ho from Snow White.

WON'T BE BACK NEXT WEEK I know, I know, how are you all going to survive!? haha, no really - hope you all have a lurrrvly xmas and new year, get lots of presents and eat lots too! I'll be back mid/end of Jan for some more Gobble tickets, special guests on the Globe and an hour filled with great music!

For now, ciao!

Naina xx
