Didn't manage to do my show last week because of a frog in my throat - not literally, don't worry ;)

N: Wow yeah I can imagine, I'll have to pay a trip there I think! Are there any food specialities?
S: Yeah, we have this signature dish, its made out of maize and you can have it with meat or fish.
N: Mmm that sounds nice, can you make it at all?
S: Actually I can! My dad taught me and I have all the stuff here at uni.
N: Right well I definitely have to come over and try it then, hehe. So who is the most famous person from Zambia?
S: Probably actress Thandie Newton who has been in Pursuit of Happyness and Run Fatboy Run. Slightly less claim to fame is Samantha Mumba whose half Zambian half irish!
N: Of course! Thandie is absolutely stunning and loved a bit of Samantha Mumba! Are there any other interesting facts that we should know?
S: Umm, any other interesting facts...the national language of Zambia is English but we speak about 6 other languages.
N: Ah wow! Can you speak any at all?
S: Yeah I understand Bemba but can't really speak it fluently, people always think thats really weird?
N: Oh no, I totally understand, I'm exactly the same with Punjabi! Could you tell us a bit about the Zambian flag?
S: Ermmm, our flag is symbolic because the red stands for freedom and the orange for wealth. The eagle shows how Zambians rise above things and are hard working.
N: Just like yourself then! I do have to say everybody, Saff is a very hard worker!

It was absolutely amazing to have Saff on the Globe today and I'll definitely have to try some Zambian food!

1st November 2011.

Semester 1, Week 4.

So after an incredibly busy week last week, i'm glad to be getting back into my 'slightly less busy' routine :)

Since my last post, I got the chance to travel to York and took part in a journalism workshop with Channel 4.
It was such a fantastic experience and I got to meet the incredible and lovely, Lucille Howe.
She started her career as an actress but soon found her talent for writing.
Lucille gave us some great tips about writing and really inspired me to begin my work as a journalist. Make sure you check out her website!

Hopefully this will be me as a journalist in Paris one day! (image is from Lucille's website)
